Well, Hello May! Is time flying or is it just me? Anyhow- I want to say a big

THANK YOU!

to EVERYONE who bought us a flower for teacher appreciation week!! That means SO much to us- we appreciate each and every one of you, too. You have made our year absolutely wonderful and every day at work a joy!

Last week was a lot of fun and Very busy. If you look outside, you might see that our garden has been organized and refurbished- all of our cucumbers are in neat, pro-grow rows, and we removed some of the pumpkins and watermelons to ensure that the garden wouldn't be overcrowded. Actually, we did not do this per se, Galina, Sasha's mother, was kind enough to lend us a hand and she spent an entire morning rearranging our plants and building us a trellis. I want to formally thank her for all of her hard work and we are truly grateful that we will have a promising yield this coming summer/fall! Thank you!!!

We have been very into puppet shows recently. The kids have loved building "stages" in the block center and acting out stories we dictate to them. I asked them last week to help me write some stories for the puppet shows- they are posted near the door if you haven't seen them and both of them are really creative...and the ending of the last one is hilarious if you ask me:)

We will be having conferences before the end of May, preferably the last week in May. Mom and Dad both don't have to be in attendance, whatever is convenient for you will work- after all, we will be sending these portfolios home with you to share with friends and family:)

Does anyone need volunteer hours? We could sure use some help scrubbing the crayon and chalk off of the outside playhouses that we've graffitied up (I would refer to them as murals...that's the artist inside speaking)but if you'd like to help, let me know. We will be using Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, and if you haven't used them yet, trust me, they get the job done!

Hopefully you've noticed how we've changed the lesson plans and you'll also see that we will be using a new format for portfolios. Another reminder- we are having our Mother's Day Breakfast on Friday and if you would like to sign up to bring a food item or drink, check the whiteboard above the sign-in/out sheet.
